The Met is a 69 storey condominium located in Bangkok. It is the fifth tallest building and second tallest residential building in Thailand and winner of numerous awards including Green Good Design Award 2011, Royal Institute of British Architects International Award 2010 and President's Design Award Singapore 2009.
The Met has a height of 228 metres and 69 floors. It contains 370 condominium units. It is composed of six towers connected by sky bridges. Sunshades, overhangs, and walls of live greenery filter sunlight and protect interiors from overheating. The gaps between the towers contain terraces with pools and sky gardens. The staggered blocks of the structure's mass are oriented to let the sun pass through the building on its regular course. The apertures through this building are meant to increase the strength of passing breezes and to cool the living units. The architects conceived of this building as a model for high-rise construction in a low-wind tropical climate, reworking the worldwide model developed for cold climates with high winds.
Located slightly to the southwest of Bangkok, Sathorn is a skyscraper-studded business district that is also home to major hotels and embassies. The western end of Sathorn is served by the Surasak BTS station, which provides convenient access to the rest of the city. Saphan Taksin is also just a short stroll away. This BTS station is located on the Chao Phraya River and from here visitors can take a river boat to Asiatique entertainment zone or one of the luxurious hotels on the other side of the river. An MRT station near Lumpini Park also provides an underground link to other parts of the city.
