This vibrant neighbourhood in eastern Bangkok is popular among students, as it is home to several major universities. Ramkhamhaeng University is one of the main landmarks in the area and a large number of shops and street food stalls can be found clustered around the university. Ramkhamhaeng Road runs for a total of 18 kilometres and the university can be found in the southern section of the road. The Mall Ramkhamhaeng is located close to Ramkhamhaeng University and is a good place to do a little shopping. This large modern mall features a large number of Western chain stores as well as Thai boutiques, while a food court and large entertainment zone featuring a multi-screen cinema that shows movies in English, can be found on the top floor. Big C and Foodland both stock good quality products and imported food, allowing expats to get a little taste of home.

The nightlife scene in Ramkhamhaeng has a strong Thai feel which is popular with both Thai people and the expats who live in this neighbourhood. There are also a few Western-style bars that offer a selection of international beers and spirits as well

Transportation connections in the Ramkhamhaeng area have been developed in recent years, meaning that it is now much easier to access the rest of the city. A recently built elevated road takes motorists directly to Sukhumvit Road, while there are also connections to the tollway on Srinagarindra Road. The Airport Express Link also stops at Ramkhamhaeng and provides a connection with the MRT underground line at Makasan terminal. A good range of modern condos for rent in Ramkhamhaeng can be found within walking distance of the Airport Express Link.
